The movie was directed by film maker John Roecker. It is made entirely of puppets with stop animation. The plot of the movie surrounds Charlie Manson and the murders that took place because of him.

All 3 members of Green Day lend their voices to the movie. Billie Joe plays the main character, Charlie. The DVD version has an audio commentary by John Roecker and Billie Joe.

The DVD will be released January 31st in the USA, Canada and Japan. No distribution company will pick up the title for a release in the UK. John Roecker (director) says this, "Sorry all my U.K. buddies but there isnt a company that we have found that has a nut sack to put out this movie, and we thought America was bad. So let them know that you want your X Rated Puppet movie or else. When I was a little kid I read in a Punk Magazine that when no one would sign Siouxsie and The Banshees, their fans would spray paint: SIGN SIOUXSIE NOW! on the front of all the record companies..just a thought. "

While the band was recording American Idiot, film maker/director John Roecker filmed the entire thing. There was a half hour preview to the 'making of' last year on VH1.

The DVD should be released later this year. The director assures us it's worth the wait.

NEW GREEN DAY ALBUM

Green Day is planning to use 2006 to take a break from all the touring they did the past 2 years then slowly get back into the recording studio. They have not mentioned any info what the album will be like, but Billie has said he's written about 15 new songs while they were on tour that he really liked, but not to expect a new album too soon.

AMERICAN IDIOT MOVIE

Green Day was contacted and asked if they were interested in turning the American Idiot Story into a movie. Last year Billie Joe wrote a treatment for the movie (a general plot of the movie), and has given it to a screen writer who is in charge of turning it into and actual screen play.

Green Day has said that they will not act in the movie if it gets made. Billie Joe said "We'll leave the acting to the professionals." But they did say they would have a part in making sure the story got told the way they meant it to.

The last GDA heard, if the decision is made to make the movie, it wont get started until this year sometime. We don't have anymore info at this time, but will keep you updated if we learn more.

The video was filmed for the Milton Keynes shows in the UK over the summer. The DVD will be mostly live footage with behind the scenes views and interviews with the band. This is the first live official DVD the band has ever put out. The DVD was directed by Sam Bayer (director of all American Idiot music videos).

The DVD will be released in stores November 14th for the UK and November 15th in the US.
